DE Celebrated 35 Years of Heart and Soul

A milestone moment deserves a celebration, and Dance Expressions joyfully celebrated many milestones at our 35th Annual Recital, Heart and Soul! The fourth week in June was filled with many unforgettable moments. Our DE dancers and their families took part in two successful tech rehearsals and four amazing shows!

At our tech rehearsals, younger students watched older students hone their craft in the theater while older dancers encouraged and supported younger dancers as they courageously took the stage, some of them for the very first time! Within 24 hours after tech rehearsal, the theater was dressed, decorated, and ready to welcome our biggest fans to four fabulous shows.

Each recital showcased the many hours of training and hard work the dancers and their teachers accomplished throughout the year. Audiences were entertained, moved, and inspired by each new and unique dance. From colorful costumes, to a variety of soulful music, to creative choreography, it was a weekend full of performances that truly displayed the depth, creativity and love of dance which has blossomed over the last 35 years at Dance Expressions.

The weekend contained many firsts and some lasts. For some students this was the first recital they had ever participated in. These dancers left with the confidence and joy of performing on a stage in front of a supportive and encouraging audience! Many students learned and performed a new genre of dance they had never performed before. Whether it was hip-hop, jazz, modern, tap or ballet, these students learned they were capable of more than they may have realized. As all of our classes came together for the weekend, many dancers, class moms, and family members made new friends whom they will cherish for years to come!

These new experiences were certainly a highlight, but so were some of the lasts. Time was spent honoring our13 graduating seniors. Many of whom have danced with Dance Expressions since they were preschoolers. These dancers have formed an unbreakable bond of friendship. They each reflected on how growing up in such a loving and caring dance environment had shaped them to be the extraordinary young women they are today. These graduates along with every current student and alumn know what a gift it is to be part of the DE family. Their hearts and souls have been impacted in a truly special way.

For 35 years, our faithful Director Ms. Pam Schrier has poured her heart and soul into creating Dance Expressions to be a place that cares about both training excellent performers as well as nurturing the growth of incredible individuals. The faculty and staff count it as a privilege and blessing to share their love of dance with each student that walks through the door. Our hearts were filled to the brim after witnessing all the success our dancers achieved this year. Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone who has shared their heart and soul with us over these last 35 years! We can only imagine how bright the next 35 years will be!
